Guide to the IHG Rewards Club

The IHG Rewards Club offers more than just the ability to redeem points for hotel and resort stays at over 5,500 properties worldwide. Members can also use their points for online shopping, travel experiences, digital rewards or flights. Chase has teamed up with IHG to offer great points earning and bonus options that can help you earn more Rewards Club redemptions, more quickly.

Here’s what you need to know about earning, maximizing and redeeming your IHG Rewards Club points.

How to redeem your IHG Rewards points

IHG Rewards Club points can be redeemed for more than just hotel and resort stays — from points transfer to online purchases to gift cards or flights, the choice is up to you.

First, head to the IHG Reward Club site and sign in to your account. There, you’ll have access to your current points balance and all current reward offers. Keep in mind that to maintain your active points balance, you need to earn or redeem points at least once per year. Ready to start redeeming your IHG Rewards Club points? You’ve got options.

Reward nights

Redeem your points for stays at any IHG hotel or resort with no blackout dates. Reward nights start at 10,000 points, and you’ll often see the best value conversion for your points when you use them for IHG reward stays.

Online shopping

The IHG Rewards Club website includes access to a large online shopping marketplace that offers everything from household items to luxury brands. Redemption is simple: Find and select what you want, put it in your online cart and checkout. It’s worth noting, however, that the conversion rate for online purchases is typically much lower than for hotel stays at around 0.5 to 0.25 cents per point.

IHG Rewards Club experiences

You can also redeem points for unique experiences through the IHG Rewards Club. For example, just 3,000 points gets you two patio passes for the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando, Florida, while 20,000 points scores two tickets to the Lewis Capaldi concert at Wembley stadium.

Points and cash

If you have more than 5,000 points available, you can combine points and cash to the room reward you want more quickly. Just log in, search for your preferred hotel and select your points and cash combination.

Magazine subscriptions

For as little as 2,500 points, get yearly magazine subscriptions to popular titles such as Wine Spectator, GQ or Vanity Fair. Spend a little more — 4,800 points — for the Robb Report, or just over 8,000 points for 52 issues of Us Weekly.

Digital rewards

Redeem your points for digital rewards including eBooks, games, music and movies that can be downloaded and enjoyed on-demand.

Points conversion

Planning a flight and need a few more miles to cover the balance? Convert your IHG Rewards Club points to miles with popular partner programs. For example, you can convert 10,000 points into 2,000 Aeroplan miles or 10,000 points into 250 Air Miles.

Points purchase

Need more IHG points to use for a reward stay or send as a gift? Purchase the points directly from the IHG Rewards Club website and add them to your account instantly.

Donate your points

If you have points you don’t plan to use, donate them in increments of 2,500 (up to 10,000) to the charity of your choice.

In a nutshell

Membership in the IHG Rewards Club program offers 10X points for all hotel and resort stays. Combined with bonus earning rates from Traveler (5x) or Premier (10x) credit cards and even more points with Gold or Premier Elite IHG Rewards Club status, it’s easier than ever to build up point balances and spend them on the trips, purchases or experiences you’ve always wanted.
